Wordpress LScache Plugin: lscache folder backup/restore

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
Hi, Im looking to backup all my wordpress files and move them to a new host. Wanted to backup the lscache folder also which has over 4 GB in size. Is it possible to move that folder to a new host in the same location so I wont need to generate the new cache files again? If possible, should I move the folder before installing litespeed cache wordpress plugin or after install it? Thanks This depends on your server configuration and cannot controlled by the plugin, so you have to ask your host provider to do that. @CacheCrawler Im managing my new server on digital ocean, I will use same configuration, cpanel etc like i used on my old server. It says this under the ON/OFF button at Enable cache in my Litespeed wordpress cache plugin. NOTICE: When disabling the cache, all cached entries for this site will be purged. So Im thinking to move that lscache folder on the new host on same location, my question is if the litespeed cache wordpress plugin can use the cache files from that folder or thats impossible and it will need to generate all the caches again. For your information: Cache plugin is only a control panel for the web server based cache function. Everything related to the cache must be done on server or host level. If you want to change the location for cached files, it must be configured on server level. A shared hosting has no control about that, so you must ask your host provider changing the server configuration. Not sure if your reading what Im saying, I asked a simple question and your answer is something super offtopic Maybe someone else tried to do what Im trying and will answer it here Sorry, but you must read what I was writing. Cache files are cache files. If you dont have full root access you cant do anything, but nevertheless it makes no sense to backup cache files (no matter where) because they are removed, overwritten and created new frequently. And again, if you dont have a dedicated server or at least a VPS with full root access you cant do anything. The same with storing on an external host. LiteSpeed web server needs cached files on the same machine where it is running. What the xxx does the root access/dedicated server/VPS has to do with what Im asking? This is not what I asked.. It makes sense to me to backup the lscache folder also thats why Im trying to find an answer. I just want to know if you can backup the lscache folder also when you backup all your wordpress files so you can move them to a new host or the lscache folder cannot be used on a new server and i NEED to let the litespeed cache wordpress plugin generate all the cache files again on the new server. If you dont understand what Im asking please move along. What the xxxxx does the root access/dedicated server/VPS has to do with what Im asking? This is not what I asked.. Whatever you want to do with lscache directory or cached files you must have root access. Just this makes everything of your ideas worthless. It makes sense to me to backup the lscache folder also thats why Im trying to find an answer. Cached files are already outdated if backup is finished, so why should that make any sense? I just want to know if you can backup the lscache folder also when you backup all your wordpress files so you can move them to a new host or the lscache folder cannot be used on a new server and i NEED to let the litespeed cache wordpress plugin generate all the cache files again on the new server. Quick and dirty answer. Forget what are you wanting to do. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! Moderator note: @andrewem24 Please dont play around with putting a in a word so you can use bad language here. Its childish. @sterndata Well, great if you saw only my bad word from the problem I have. I shouldnt have used that word, my bad. @CacheCrawler Its obvious imo that I have ROOT access since I had asked in this thread if I can MOVE the lscache folder to a new host so that can litespeed cache plugin can use it again. Again this has nothing to do with the question asked. It make sense to me to backup the lscache folder because my cache expire only few times a year. It doesnt have the default expire cache setting. It will take almost 8 days to generate all the cache files again and that will consume my server resources. Again this is not related to the question I asked I asked a simple question and you trolling over here. This is just argumentative. Cache Crawler has explained that this wont work form the plugin level. You wont accept that. OK. This topic is closed.
