WordPress 5.3 mediaelement JS combine error

Wordpress LScache Plugin: WordPress 5.3 mediaelement JS combine error

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
Hi all, If anyone is using WordPress 5.3 and using JS Combine on LSCache, it will spit out a Javascript error and may cause some functionality of your site to break. SyntaxError: string literal contains an unescaped line break Ive had this on two WordPress 5.3 sites with LSCache. Fix is to exclude wp-includes/js/mediaelement/mediaelement-and-player.min.js from optimisation. If the team at LiteSpeed could look into it, that would be great. Thanks for the report, it should be related to comment removal when minifying JS, we will update our library in v3.2. Hi @luminsol , Can you try to disable remove comment setting to see if it works or not without excluding that js? Yes, I can confirm with remove comments disabled the issue is fixed. Do you know when the fix will be offered? We will update the minify library which include a new comment removal module after v3.2.
