WebP cache issue

Wordpress LScache Plugin: WebP cache issue

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
Hi! I noticed a problem which appears on Safari iOS (and desktop version as well). The browser is trying to download an image with .webp extension but its not supported there and request fails. Im using your plugin without page caching option. The plugin is used only for CSS/JS and image optimization. I use another cache solution available on hosting (server doesnt support LiteSpeed and there is another cache ? 2 minutes long). I guess that a page from this cache might contains image URLs with .webp extensions (generated on another device which supports .webp) and all the requests fails in Safari. Could you please check it and let me know if its possible to fix? Best Regards. Hi, Yes, I did a quick test on Apache , test with Chrome and Microsoft Edge , LSCWP correctly sends .webp to Chrome and .jpg to Edge. When LSCWP detects browser send header that accepts .webp , it will serve the .webp one which is cached by a 3rd party plugin, this caching behavior is out of LSCWP control. Id suggest you to contact corresponding 3rd part cache plugin support for this. Best regards,
