Wordpress LScache Plugin: Very slow download of big ZIP files
Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02 Dear LiteSpeed Developers, I have the following problem and I hope you can give me advice on why this happens. My VPS is located in the USA while Im located in EU. When I download a big ZIP archive file from my litespeed server, my download speed is only about 1 Mbps and varying from 300 kbps to 1 Mbps all the time (I have a strong Internet connection here in EU such as 35Mbps download speed from a different nearby US-based server). Right now the speedtest shows me the following values (the script is run from my US-based VPS with connection to local EU-based server): Download speed 115 Mbps, Upload speed 262 Mbps. So Im wondering why I have so slow download speed of this zip file from my US-based server to my desktop PC located in EU (about max 1 Mbps only)? It feels like litespeed server might influence this download speed. This problem is valid only for downloading big ZIP files, as websites located on this VPS work very fast (static content)! I would appreciate it if you could give me some pointers on what should I check in litespeed configurations to resolve this slow download problem. Thanks in advance! I would appreciate it if you could give me some pointers on what should I check in litespeed configurations to resolve this slow download problem. Like with Apache it also possible with LiteSpeed webserver (not cache plugin) to limit the bandwith, but if it is limited I dont believe that is limited by LiteSpeed and you better should ask your hosting provider. You can verify if there is a bandwith limit in LiteSpeed configuration. If you have access to: /etc/apache2/conf.d/includes/pre_virtualhost_global.conf Check if you find a define like this: VhostBandwidthLimit 1024000 Thanks for your response. But I only have empty conf-available folder in /etc/apache2/ Maybe pre_virtualhost_global.conf is located somewhere else? It could depend on control panel, so you must search for it or ask support of your control panel or ask uncle Google?. Or your provider doesnt allow access to pre_virtualhost_global.conf?? I dont know, sorry. I own this VPS myself. I have everything set up in LiteSpeed WebAdmin Console and all limits for Bandwidth are set to 0 (unlimited). ?and all limits for Bandwidth are set to 0 But your provider controls the traffic? Hi, I am sorry , this is a wordpress plugin support forum not for server administration if you have problem with server configuration , please contact corresponding party and a side note: you can simply do a file transfer without webserver, like , rsync , sftp or ftp if the speed is similar as http(s) , then its your network , either your home link or providers link if non-http is much faster than http(s) transfer, then you can submit a ticket by sending mail to support at litespeedtech.com to contact LiteSpeed team for it Best regards,
