Vary groups config

Wordpress LScache Plugin: Vary groups config

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
Hi Our site has many different roles, each able to view different sets of content. From what I can see, and from some basic testing Ive done, the Vary groups feature will be ideal. However, I want to understand what other config settings to apply: 1. Ive read that I do not need to enable ESI in order for Vary Groups to work, even though Vary Groups is on the ESI settings tab. Is that correct? 2. Clearly, anyone with a role is by definition logged in. With Vary Groups, I dont want private caching, so should I set Cache Logged-in Users On or Off? Thanks, Martin Taylor Hi, if you dont want to private cache , then vary group setting wont come into effect after all yes, set cache login user to off Best regards, @CacheCrawler Thanks for your reply ? just to be really clear on this: Cache Logged-In Users = Off . ESI = Off Set the Vary Group numbers so that each role has a non-zero value. Some of them might have the same number, so will be in the same group. LSC will then create a cache for each group, and another cache for people who are not logged in. I think thats right, and Ill be trying it out soon, but it would be good to have it confirmed. Edit ? see my follow-up post below after some testing. Ive found that ESI has to be On , in order for Vary Groups to work. So going back on my previous post: Cache Logged-In Users = Off . ESI = On Set the Vary Group numbers so that each role has a non-zero value. Some of them might have the same number, so will be in the same group. LSC will then create a cache for each group, and another cache for people who are not logged in. you are now know vary group better than me
