Transparent placeholder or low quality not working

Wordpress LScache Plugin: Transparent placeholder or low quality not working

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
I have turned off lazy loading because all I can get are the ugly gray boxes. I have tried adding data:image/gif base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 to the basic image placeholder but it makes no difference. And yes I have purged all and cleared my browser cache! I also read a thread from nearly two yeas ago sayin a low quality version of the loading image was in hand. Is there something special I need to do to enable this? So two questions ? why is the tranparent snippet not working? and when will the low quality option be implemented (or how)? Hi, Could you please provide the report number ? You can get it in toolbox -> report -> click send to LiteSpeed LQIP is already availeble right below the lazyload option , yuo should see it Best regards, OK. Report number is RIFRVRTB LQIP Cloud generator is ON with 4 quality. I am turning off lazyloading now since I have defined with the recommended string but which is either misguided on my part, incorrect or not working ? still just the ugly grey boxes. You have some css3 suggestions but where do these go? Part 1 and Part2 ? where? Hi, wait a second , I do see LQIP in your site Did I miss anything? Best regards, THAT is using LQIP? The ugly grey things? I dont think so! afaik LQIP loads low resolution versions of the original images not some randomly shaded grey blocks. you can login to QC dashboard -> domain -> LQIP , see view the origin image and generated LQIP version Thanks ok I see now but ugh. fugly. How do I get the transparent placeholder to work then? And/or alternatively where does the css3 go? you can disable response placeholder and LQIP , then it should give you transparent lazyload I am not sure what you refer to as css3 ? But the Basic image placeholder is the string detailed in the advisory text below the field so surely disabling it just mean no placeholder at all. For example, data:image/gif base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 can be used for a transparent placeholder. If you meant responsive placeholder ? then I hadnt ventured inot responsive territory yet. I mean the css3 referred to in this https://docs.litespeedtech.com/lscache/lscwp/pageopt/#lazy-load-images Hi, Im sorry ? once you enabled lazyload , and use that data: , it will be transparent and act as lazyload placeholder CSS from your link , should go to anywhere that can be loaded globally (or any page that contains images or have lazyload enabled) most frequently , you can add it into theme -> customize -> Additional CSS Best regards, fwiw Increasing the quality (even to the max) makes no difference ? and yes I am Purging all and clearing the browser cache. Its not LQIP as Id expect, its monochrome and bears little resemblance to the real image so stands out rather than giving the impression of loading. the Responsive placeholder meant responsive in terms of display size to me so I ghadnt turned it off ? why would I not want it to be the same size as the loading image? And what are the implications to turning it off? Anyway its looking better now but slower. It appears faster with lazy loading off. imo CSS ok but part 1 and part 2 ? It is LiteSpeeds link, not mine, after all and should be more specific. Hi, part1 and part2 , as in its comment , is how it shows before and after , so they are meant to be in same place but this wont affect how LQIP shows I meant only enabled lazyload ,set that placeholder , and turned off responsive placeholder and LQIP you will see transparent placeholder Best regards,

LiteCache Rush: Speed comes from using less, not from doing it faster
