Wordpress LScache Plugin: Smart Slider 3 and webp comparability
Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02 Hi, First off thanks for the excellent plugin! Ive noticed that the Smart Slider with both image optimisation on and off (an option in Smart Slider) will not load the webp images. This would provide a nice performance benefit if this can be fixed in the future. As an aside Google Chrome is working on adding native lazy loading support: https://web.dev/native-lazy-loading/ Can this also be supported in the future? Could you please specify which image(s) not replaced to webp ? Best regards, Hi qtwrk, My issue is with WEBP but I was just suggesting how I think lazy load can be improved. Just the images from the slider: https://imgur.com/a/jIQEShT Thanks, Hi @schmidtypictures, we will add native lazyload support after version 3. May I know which Smart Slider are you using, can you share us the plugin download link? Seems the plugin does not load the image by a correct WordPress hook so the image cannot be replaced. Hi, oh cool! Oh sorry I thought there was only one, its this one: https://en-au.wordpress.org/plugins/smart-slider-3/ by @nextendweb Yea the plugin also has an image optimisation option and can resize the image. I suspect its because of these features that it does not use the correct WordPress hook. Hi @schmidtypictures, after checking, you can add div.data-desktop to LiteSpeed Cache Setting > Media > WebP Attribute To Replace for Smart Slider 3 WEBP image replacement. Hi @stanleylitespeed Thank you very much!
