OpenLiteSpeed improvements in wp-admin?

Wordpress LScache Plugin: OpenLiteSpeed improvements in wp-admin?

Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02
Hi guys, Im currently running nginx but am considering switching to OpenLiteSpeed. I realise wp-admin cant be fully cached, but will OLS still offer some kind of speed improvement in the backend compared to nginx? Thanks! Hi @menathor, even the backend cannot be cached, you can still enjoy the cache on the backend page/post preview. Also, you can use our LSCache Plugin with OpenLiteSpeed to control the caching feature on you WP backend with a simple interface. Of course, therere lots of benefits which can improve your sites speed by OpenLiteSpeed server and LSCache Plugin. For more details, you may refer to our plugin feature list.. Some of our optimization features does not require OpenLiteSpeed server so you can try to install on your current server for testing first. Thanks! Are there any issues using litespeed with WordPress multisite in subdirectory mode? And can the plugin be network activated? Also I was a bit confused about this post: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/what-is-the-difference-between-the-litespeed-server-vs-the-litespeed-plugin/ Does that mean that page caching features (the LiteSpeed equivalent to nginxs FastCGI) is not available in the open source version? Because this comparison says that page caching is built in: https://www.litespeedtech.com/products/litespeed-web-server/editions My understanding was that LSCache was included in open source, and the only real difference was ESI, htaccess and control panel support. If we arent getting the LSCache module in open source, can you explain what performance features we are missing out on? You can use it on subdirectory mode or network activated directly with LiteSpeed. The page caching features is working with OpenLiteSpeed, just the LITESPEED EXCLUSIVE FEATURES of this page require the Enterprise version. Hey Stanley, Thanks for the reply but Im still a bit confused. The only mention of page caching is under Litespeed exclusive features (Automatic page caching to greatly improve site). There is no mention of page caching for OpenLiteSpeed. Could you please explain the difference in page caching methods between the free version and the paid version? Am I correct that page caching is done via PHP in the free version (like WP Rocket) and native server-level page caching (like nginxs FastCGI) is only available in the paid version? Thanks! Sorry for my mistake, if you are using OpenLiteSpeed, just the feature with are not available in OpenLiteSpeed. HTTP/2 & QUIC support ESI (Edge Side Includes) support Widgets and Shortcodes as ESI blocks For the other feature, including the page cache, is available with OpenLiteSpeed. Hey again Thanks for the info! But I think QUIC, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 have been included in OpenLiteSpeed since version 1.6.0? See: https://openlitespeed.org/release-log/version-1-6-x/ And: https://blog.litespeedtech.com/2019/09/11/litespeed-quic-http3-open-source/ Could you please check with your development team and see if thats correct? Because if thats true, I think the only difference between the paid and open source versions are ESI and full .htaccess support? Thanks! Hi, Sorry for jump in the discussion. About your question: if no caching solution is involved , in comparison between OLS and Nginx , this is some aspects that OLS may improve your site: Optimized HTTP/2 , QUIC, HTTP/3 , LiteSpeed API for PHP, among some other misc optimization like compression , SSL handshake ?etc Yes, OLS 1.6.x branch has QUIC and H3 For ESI on OLS, you will have to use OLS with Quic Cloud , OLS alone wont support ESI feature. For LiteSpeed Enterprise and OpenLiteSpeed comparison , please check this page But in short term , as the features that matters most , yes , full htaccess support is certainly one of the most important feature. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Best regards,
