Wordpress LScache Plugin: Litespeed Cache Optimisations Disappointing
Last Updated on: Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:02 Hi guys, Before I send one of my websites live, I thought Id try some of the Litespeed Cache Optimisations out and see what all of the fuss is about instead of using WP Rocket. First problem was the Gzip compression ? where is it? Never known a caching plugin that omits Gzip, but no problem, I dropped a few lines of code in the .htaccess file to appease Google, GTMetrix et al. So then we come to the optimisation thingy-ma-jigs. On WP Rocket, its just a case of checking everything and it just works ? though you might need to deselect a couple of js options. On Litespeed Cache, its a bloody nightmare! Tried selecting everything as in WPR above, and the website was unrecognisable, FAOC by the dozen and images missing. So I tried deselecting a few things, and all the time flushing the cache to see the proper results. Turns out that the ONLY way to optimise Litespeed Cache is not to optimise it at all, as with any css optimisation, or js optimisation, or even html optimisation, the FAOC is till there and images still disappear. Thank god for the Reset Settings button! So, am I missing something here or is Litespeed Cache just an un-gzipped white elephant? Hi, First of all please allow me to apologize for this pleasure experience you had with LSCWP. If your check LSCWP page here, you will see LSCWP never mentions about gzip , as matter of fact , it is done by LiteSpeed WebServer already by default. And please be a little bit of more specific about unrecognisable , FAOC and image missing so we can provide better assistance. Best regards, Well? Just tried it in front of my hosting provider and they couldnt believe the problems Id got. First, the FOUC ? is on every page. My banner selectors in the hero image tab metamorphasised from a pretty blue colour, to a dingy grey colour ? which was the first thing my host noticed. The internal banner images were simply not there ? unless you waited for a couple of minutes, then they came back. And all the time when I went back to the homepage, all the images were out of whack for around 10 seconds until it decided to load up. My host actually runs a Litespeed Cache server, and they recommended using WP Rocket! Hi, The FOUC happens because of CSS async load, please check this wiki For the image issue , could you please provide a report number , when that issue occurs ? For the change setting and purge every time , you can add admin_action_update in purge hook field under Advance tab, this way when you change and save settings , it will purge all automatically. Best regards, Its nothing to do with CSS async load ? I just tried enabling CSS minify, no other settings enabled, and the banner image changed colour again. Why doesnt this plugin work as well as other caching plugins? Whew, this report number thing is a farce too, isnt it? Report number havent got a clue as it keeps changing. Hi, Im really sorry to hear this displeasure experience. I saw in certain case the CSS combine may break some styling , but this is first time I encounter the case that minify CSS cause FOUC. Please check the minified CSS against original CSS file , see if anything was inadvertently changed by minification. If you wish , please submit a ticket here , we will investigate it further. Best regards, Tell you what, well call it a day, shall we? Ill disable the Litespeed Server and use WP Rocket instead.. Sure. If you change your mind any time, though, were happy to help. (For the record, the report number does change every time you press the button. You can just supply the most recent one, if you ever decide to revisit this.)
